Members of the South Central Region enjoyed a dynamic and entertaining joint Region Meeting, held April 30 – May 3 at the South Beach Resort in Biloxi, with Centers of the Southeast Region. South Central attendees were: Dawn Hinton, Texas LTAP; Josh Johnson, New Mexico LTAP; and Marie Walsh, Steve Strength, Courtney Dupre, and Leo Marretta, Louisiana LTAP. All agreed that the expanded format, including several interesting presentations of general interest, and the opportunity to interact with a larger region in terms of numbers of centers represented, made for a successful meeting and a valuable experience for the participants. Having NLTAPA President Elect David Orr in attendance was a definite plus, as he shared some of his insights on presenter skills and promoted the upcoming New Orleans meeting. The SC Region participants wish to thank our hosts, especially Shirley Johnson of Mississippi and her staff, and Matt Cate, Region Rep, for making us feel welcome.
The South Central Region looks forward to hosting the NLTAPA Annual Meeting in New Orleans, July 23-26. We appreciate the assistance of David Orr and the entire Conference WG, and especially Allison Landry of the Louisiana Transportation Research Center, for her attention to detail in working out all the details of the hotel and special activities. SC Region Center staff from each of our 5 States have volunteered to contribute a significant amount of on-site assistance during the conference.
