SUMMARY:How to Keep Yourself and Your Agency Out of Court
DESCRIPTION:This class will provide an understanding of the importance and implications of tort liability risk for road agencies. The class will cover risk management principles\, review risk management activities\, and identify ways to reduce risk. Students will study examples that show the importance of considering human behavior when planning for their city or town. (Formerly Risk Management and Tort Liability)  \nA Zoom link to attend will be sent the day before the class starts. \nCashnet Registration Link

SUMMARY:Roadway Conditions
DESCRIPTION:A systemic approach to safety involves widely implemented improvements based on high-risk roadway features correlated with specific severe crash types. The approach helps agencies broaden their traffic safety efforts at little extra cost. A system-based approach acknowledges crashes alone are not always sufficient to determine what countermeasures to implement\, particularly on low volume local and rural roadways where crash densities are lower\, and in many urban areas where there are conflicts between vehicles and vulnerable road users (pedestrians\, bicyclists\, and motorcyclists). This webinar will review how to identify these roads. \nRegister at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/roadway-conditions-tickets-106386853944

SUMMARY:Self-Evaluations & Transition Plans and PROWAG Overview Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:With the 30-year anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act\n(ADA)\, it is critical that local governments recognize their obligation to upgrade streets\, sidewalks and facilities for accessibility. ADA requires that public agencies perform self-evaluations and prepare transition plans. The plans were to have been completed by July 26\, 1992 and be updated periodically. This webinar series examines the background to\, contents of and enforcement of the self-evaluation and transition plan requirements. Several landmark court cases are highlighted. A case study is presented to illustrate these items. Participants will leave the webinar series with a “To Do” list of next steps they need to take and a toolkit of helpful resources. \nCurrent criteria for accessible public rights-of-way including the pedestrian access route\, curb ramps and detectable warnings\, accessible pedestrian signals\, street furniture\, on-street parking and temporary traffic control requirements for pedestrians are also reviewed in the webinar. \nWednesday\, June 24\, 2020\n10:00 AM to 11:30 AM EDT\nRegistration: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/201981792592864267 \nThursday\, June 25\, 2020\n10:00 AM to 11:30 AM EDT\nRegistration: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/6747568026789992715
