SUMMARY:Self-Evaluations & Transition Plans and PROWAG Overview Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:With the 30-year anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act\n(ADA)\, it is critical that local governments recognize their obligation to upgrade streets\, sidewalks and facilities for accessibility. ADA requires that public agencies perform self-evaluations and prepare transition plans. The plans were to have been completed by July 26\, 1992 and be updated periodically. This webinar series examines the background to\, contents of and enforcement of the self-evaluation and transition plan requirements. Several landmark court cases are highlighted. A case study is presented to illustrate these items. Participants will leave the webinar series with a “To Do” list of next steps they need to take and a toolkit of helpful resources. \nCurrent criteria for accessible public rights-of-way including the pedestrian access route\, curb ramps and detectable warnings\, accessible pedestrian signals\, street furniture\, on-street parking and temporary traffic control requirements for pedestrians are also reviewed in the webinar. \nWednesday\, June 24\, 2020\n10:00 AM to 11:30 AM EDT\nRegistration: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/201981792592864267 \nThursday\, June 25\, 2020\n10:00 AM to 11:30 AM EDT\nRegistration: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/6747568026789992715

SUMMARY:Roadway Conditions
DESCRIPTION:A systemic approach to safety involves widely implemented improvements based on high-risk roadway features correlated with specific severe crash types. The approach helps agencies broaden their traffic safety efforts at little extra cost. A system-based approach acknowledges crashes alone are not always sufficient to determine what countermeasures to implement\, particularly on low volume local and rural roadways where crash densities are lower\, and in many urban areas where there are conflicts between vehicles and vulnerable road users (pedestrians\, bicyclists\, and motorcyclists). This webinar will review how to identify these roads. \nRegister at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/roadway-conditions-tickets-106386853944

SUMMARY:Work Zone Safety Awareness for Road Departments
DESCRIPTION:This course\, similar to our Work Zone Safety Awareness Program\, is specifically being offered to New Jersey municipal and county public works and utilities participants who require an overview of working safely in the roadway. As new or veteran employees enter or re-enter the public works profession\, they are frequently required to set up short-term work zones or are assigned to long-term projects. There are no allowances for errors when working next to traffic\, so it is important for personnel to have a solid understanding of work zone safety compliance with the national MUTCD standards. Also\, the roles of workers and enforcement personnel at work sites\, differences between NJDOT and local projects\, and legal responsibilities in work zones will be addressed during this program. \nIntended Audience: Individuals who are performing maintenance\, construction\, or traffic control on municipal roadways including: public works employees\, and street superintendents. \nLog on instructions will be in your registration confirmation. If you do not receive immediate\nconfirmation\, please check your SPAM folder or email barbara.morgan@soe.rutgers.edu

SUMMARY:Ins and Outs of the OH-1 - Ohio’s Crash Reporting Form Webinar
DESCRIPTION:What information is included on Ohio’s crash reporting form? Why would you want to know? The OH-1 is an important key for transportation safety professionals as it provides the data which can be ‘mined’ for information on your roadways – where are crashes happening\, what was listed by the responding officer as the primary and any other contributing factors to the crash\, and other key facts to be considered when seeking to enhance roadway safety. Also learn the difference between the levels of information which will be made available on an OH-1 based on the crash’s severity. \nThe presenter will be Derek Troyer\, P.E.\, of ODOT’s Highway Safety Team.\nDate / Time: Wednesday\, June 10th \nPlease register to participate in the webinar at:\nhttps://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/9048647951411323663

\nRegister at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/roadway-conditions-tickets-106389425636
