We all know that guardrail can be installed incorrectly, and, as a result, can seriously injure the users of our roadways.  In an effort to make guardrail installations and technology more consistent and up to date with today’s vehicle fleet, the Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware (MASH) was developed by the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO).  MASH is the new standard for roadside hardware.  This presentation will outline the changes that MASH introduced, some of the new guardrail hardware that meets these new requirements, as well as some common installation errors and how to fix them.
