Introduce and familiarize the audience with the requirements of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) general construction permit to prevent contamination of storm water and runoff from construction activities.

Submit the steps and requirements to applying for General Construction Permit (GCP) coverage under the Stormwater Program NPDES permit. You will learn how to evaluate your particular case to conclude whether or not your project needs an NPDES permit and the templates/forms required. In addition, you will be presented with general strategies and practices (BMP’s) that prevent and reduce pollution from runoff and storm water from construction sites.

Asphalt Mixture Design

To be able to make decisions in the laboratory and in construction projects using the knowledge acquired in the workshop and know how to select the type of asphalt and aggregates, knowing their effects on the properties of the mix. Ability to perform the proportioning, volumetric analysis, and evaluation of the mix, using the guides for different types of mix, increase the useful life of the pavement through an efficient design of the asphalt mix and analyze the specifications to understand how they affect the quality of the mix.

Hydraulic Modeling with Application to Bridges and Stations

September 23 & 24, 2020 @ 1:30pm – 4:30pm EDT

This online training presents a balance between theory and professional practice, presenting the use of tools for hydraulic design following the Puerto Rico Hydrological-Hydraulic Studies Guidelines, approved by the Planning Board and the Natural and Environmental Resources of Puerto Rico Department.  Furthermore, the new base flood maps adopted by the government, the application to bridges and floodable area will also be included.  The knowledge is applied along with computer modeling using the HEC-RAS program.
