Alternative intersections and interchanges offer the potential to improve safety and reduce delay at a lower cost and with fewer impacts than traditional solutions.  In 2014, the Federal Highway Administration published informational guides for four innovative designs:  the Median U-Turn (MUT), Displaced Left Turn (DLT), Restricted Crossing U-Turn (RCUT), and Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI).  Recently, a fifth guide has been developed to provide information on the Quadrant Roadway Intersection (QRI).

FHWA is pleased to offer this webinar to all Federal, State, Municipal, and Consultant transportation practitioners responsible for or interested in providing innovative solutions at intersections in need of operational, safety, and/or multimodal improvements. The webinar presentation will introduce the QRI Guide and review the information presented in the guide, focusing on intersection operations, safety, various geometric forms, and planning and design criteria to consider when evaluating the QRI as a potential intersection improvement alternative.  The presentation will also include information provided from several DOTs that have constructed a QRI in recent years.   Certificates of completion for professional development hours (PDHs) will be provided upon request.
